Booking a mobile groom in Cedar Park works differently from booking a salon slot, and the difference is the reason it works at all: the schedule is built one dog at a time, so there are fewer appointments in a day and each one is the whole appointment. Can I get in this week?
Sometimes, and the honest answer is that sooner is always better than later. Each full-service groom runs two to three hours, and I work Monday to Friday from eight until five, with weekends by appointment only. That is a small number of dogs a day by design, and most of those slots belong to regular clients who rebook before they leave the driveway. A week's notice usually finds something; a day's notice depends on a cancellation.
What I will not do is promise a slot I cannot staff. If you need a groom this week, book through the form or text me and say so, and I will tell you straight whether it is possible. If a cancellation opens up, I would rather fill it with a dog who is ready than leave it empty, so it is worth asking.
How the regular schedule works
Most of my clients book on a repeating schedule, every four, six or eight weeks depending on the breed and the coat, and a standing appointment is the only reliable way to get the day you want. It is also what the coat needs. The American Kennel Club puts a Poodle's wash at about every four to eight weeks depending on how often it is brushed, and its general guidance is that how often a dog needs a professional depends on breed, coat length and type, with some grooming at home in between whatever the cadence.
Two things push a dog toward the shorter end of that range. The AKC notes that all pets benefit from monthly ear cleaning and nail trimming, and that dogs in warm climates can shed four times a year or all the time rather than in a tidy spring and fall. Around Cedar Park there is no off season for the brush, so a dog that could go six weeks somewhere cooler may do better at four here.
The other thing a standing appointment prevents is the slipped groom that turns into a matted one. The AKC describes mats forming where the front legs meet the chest, starting from a damp patch or a bit of debris, and a bad one taking several short sessions over several days to work out. A dog who is groomed on schedule rarely gets there.
Cancellations
I ask for a day's notice, twenty-four hours, if you need to cancel or move an appointment. With the schedule built one dog at a time, a slot that goes empty at short notice cannot be filled the way a salon fills a chair, and the dog who could have had it is the one who loses out. If you are unwell or something has come up, tell me as early as you can and we will find the next gap.
If you are not home
You do not have to be home for the appointment. The latchkey option is part of the same appointment rather than a separate service: every member of the team is background-checked, and with your say-so I will bring your dog out by a key under the mat or through the garage, groom in the van, and return the dog when it is done. What I need from you on the day
Three things: a driveway or a spot to park, a current rabies certificate, and whatever you already know about your dog. The van carries its own water, power and equipment, so there is nothing to plug in and no hose to run; it parks and the groom happens inside it. The certificate is a legal matter rather than a house rule. The Texas Health and Safety Code requires dogs to be vaccinated against rabies by four months of age and at regular intervals after that, and the vet who gives the vaccine must issue you a certificate. I ask to see it at every appointment and first-time clients get a few extra minutes for it.
The third thing is the one owners forget. If nails are the hard part, if the face is touchy, if you want the ears long, or if the dog has never met a dryer, say it when you book. It changes how I plan the appointment, and it is much better heard at the door than discovered mid-groom.
